Challenge 3: Prehistory

----------------

Most people believe that we have a fairly good understanding of the history of the human race from the Stone Age to the present day. But there is a large body of evidence which throws considerable doubt on the generally accepted version of early history.

The mathematics, astronomy, architecture and engineering we see at the dawn of recorded history is far too advanced to have been developed by the known cultures of the time. There are, for example:

  • ancient maps showing the Arctic, Antarctic and South America. The maps show a knowledge of geodesy, nautical science and cartography not achieved until the 18th century.
  • ancient calendars from South America, Babylon and Egypt that are extraordinarily accurate indicating a highly evolved astronomy and mathematics.
  • astronomical knowledge of our solar system and other stars is more detailed in some ancient cultures than in any before the 19th century.
  • some of the oldest buildings in South America and Egypt are too large and too precisely engineered for the cultures that are said to have built them.
  • similarities in the language, legends, art and architecture of cultures on different continents are much greater than would be expected from the known movement of people over the last 20 000 years. Some early South American civilizations for example have too much in common with ancient Egyptian and S.E. Asian cultures.
  • some artefacts are totally out of place in the known ancient cultures including: electric batteries, analogue computers, models of aeroplanes, metal objects embedded in rock, and skeletons with evidence of successful chest and head surgery.

Why then do archaeologists and historians ignore or try to explain away such evidence? Probable reasons include the following:

  • No clearly identifiable sites of advanced pre-historical civilizations have been found.
  • There is little doubt that most cultures have slowly evolved from very primitive beginnings. It is therefore assumed that ALL cultures have done so and evidence to the contrary is assumed to be misinterpreted or false.

Some people who take the above evidence seriously talk of alien UFO contact or fantastic prehistoric civilizations. Most archaeologists and historians find such explanations so totally unbelievable that they just laugh and ignore the whole problem.

There are some researchers however who do acknowledge that something is seriously wrong with our understanding of prehistory. They believe that it is much more likely that some of our ancient civilizations are actually the remnants of much older and more advanced cultures.

There are legends that describe such advanced pre-historical civilizations including their political, scientific and technological achievements. There are even accounts of prehistoric aeroplanes and wars with high-tech weaponry. These civilizations are said to have sunk into the ocean after cataclysmic earthquakes and volcanoes with the loss of millions of lives.

Most geologists do not accept that a pre-historical civilization could have suddenly sunk into the ocean because it is assumed large land masses move slowly and uniformly. But not all data supports this view:

  • shortly before 10 000 BC America and Australia suddenly lost between 73 and 94% of their mega-fauna.
  • in S. America many animals died when their gazing land was lifted 2km above sea level. Tiahuanco, described by some archaeologists as a sea port, is now 4km above sea level.
  • lava known to have spread above sea level less than 15 000 years ago is now more than 1 km below sea level.
