| The universe, and even our galaxy, contains so many stars that most would agree that the probability of other technologically capable civilizations existing is very high. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they could or would come to Earth, and even if they did that we would be able to see them or communicate with them. Much debate surrounding the existence, or otherwise, of UFOs as spacecraft carrying extraterrestials to Earth hinges on a range of implicit assumptions which often go unquestioned.
