Third Millennium Concepts

Fundamental concepts/ideas which may be shaping the 21st Century

Fundamental Concepts

Examples

Being: Being fully in the moment. Being fully human and fully present.
Chakra: Vortex through which subtle energy moves into physical systems. Heart chakra moving energy into the physical body.
Chaos Theory: Chaotic systems with underlying order described by attractors.
Collaborative Communities: Working together to achieve both personal and collective goals far beyond those possible when individuals simply work in a group. Resilient Communities

Deep Ecology: Combination of Systems Theory and Gaia Theory that says humans are part of a living Earth.

Fun: Playful release of energy to achieve healing through balance or transformation. Serious fun!
Gaia Theory: The idea that the Earth is a living system that self-regulates to support life. (Arne Naess)
Grace: The effortless expression of spirit. Graceful dance; natural grace of animals; grace transcending cause and effect.
Holographic Model: 3D projection from encoded information. Each part contains information about the whole. Hologram
Implicate Order: A vast and deeper level of reality out of which our reality unfolds. (Karl Pribram, David Bohm)
Morphogenesis: The linking of the form and structure of similar systems across time and space through resonance of morphogenetic fields. (Rupert Sheldrake)
Paradigm: The set of assumptions, concepts, values and techniques that govern the thinking, research and solutions within a community. Consensual reality, memes

(Thomas Kuhn)

Sacredness: Reverence for expressions of spirit. Sacred Sites
Soul: A unifying self organising field of loving creative energy in identity. Spontaneous individualistic expression of the deeper aspects of Being. Human soul; planetary soul; plant soul;   Indefinable; paradoxical; heat-felt; deep; "The body is in the soul."
Space/Time: Space and time are elastic, stretching and shrinking together in curved space/time. Space and time began with the "big bang". (Albert Einstein)
Spirit: An enlivening 'sea of energy' flowing through all, connecting all. Qi; chi; ki; chakra energy
Subtle Energy: High frequency energy beyond the known EM spectrum. Subtle energy fields, such as the etheric, are said to interpenetrate the human body. ISSSEEM   (Richard Gerber, Barbara Brennan)
Synergy: The harmonious interaction of sub-systems (parts) in a way that is mutually supportive of the whole. There is synergy between body organs to support each other and human life. Synergistic = win-win situations
Systems Theory: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts and is seen as a set of interrelating, interacting hierarchy of sub-systems some of which may be self-organising. Living things are self-organising dissipative structures tending to greater order and complexity. Whole Systems (Ilya Prigogine)
Transpersonal: Experiences in which consciousness transcends the boundaries of the personality (and probably space and time). Transpersonal Psychology and Philosophy. (Stanislav Grof, Ken Wilber)
Uncertainty Principle: It is not possible to know both the position and motion of a sub-atomic particle. (Werner Heisenberg, Niels Bohr)
Unconditional Love: Love given with no conditions or expectations.
